Are The Little Debts Drowning You? le book with the EXACT specifications on each state's driver's license. About a week after that book was distributed to each state's DMV it was already being sold on the internet. A new and very lucrative business has sprung up because of that book. All a criminal needs is a laptop computer, a printer, a laminator and that little book and they have themselves a prosperous criminal enterprise. The police can not tell the difference between the "real" license and the fake one. In fact they can't tell the difference between the "data base you" and the you who is looking at yourself in the mirror. The data base you has gone on a crime spree and given the police a copy of a driver's license with YOUR number and another address on it. YAt first glance it would have been hard to imagine that amidst its impervious metal frame and intimidating size that a tiny by comparison iceberg would eventually be the demise of the unsinkable “Titanic”, was the iceberg fully to blame?, upon closer inspection it was a variety of factors that lead to its undoing:1. The speed the ship traveled left it unable to alter its course quickly2. A fire burning for days in the hull weakened the integrity of the steel3. Poor visibility lead to delayed reaction times4. The temperature of the water caused the hull to fragment upon collision5. Telegraph warnings from neighboring ships did not get through, and of course6. There weren’t enough lifeboats on board for everyone. These factors combined brought down the mammoth ship of its day, much like mammoth debt begins innocently enough in the form of little spends it can accumulate quickly into BIG debt leading us on a financial collision course with bankruptcy.Knowledge is PowerMost of us don’t know exactly how much debt we’re in because lots of smaller spends slip under the radar, it’s the bigger bills that get our attention when in actual fact the smaller ones can be even more menacing with their sheer volume and frequency.Get a grip on those little spends! You can take control Equity Indexed Annuity is a Fixed Annuity Now Known as an Index Annuity Due to the soaring cost to individuals and business of identity theft our state and Federal legislatures have passed some VERY stringent laws that apply to all businesses with one or more employees. Non compliance could cost business owners personally or their business up to $1million in fines and up to 10 years in prison. There is federal legislation as well as many state laws that require business owners to secure all personal information (social security numbers, driver's license numbers, credit card numbers, date of birth, etc.) of their clients and employees. 87% of business are not aware that these laws affect them or that they even exist. Non compliance could result in the closing of the business, fines, penalties, criminal and civil litigation and in fact Identity Theft issues are expected to be THE next hot class action target. An equity index annuity is a fixed annuity. The reason equity indexed annuities are obsolete is that the fixed annuity means your premium earns a minimum guaranteed interest rate. In other words you have two interest rates, a guaranteed rate and a current rate determined by an external index. The word equity has been dropped from the description of a fixed indexed annuity as to eliminate the confusion of insurance terms among consumers and agents.A fixed index annuity is not an equity, therefore that term has been eliminated. Indexed annuities are the new and improved terminology. The word annuity is Latin for income. Annuities existed long before there was a tax code. The word deferred meant income later and still does today. You can buy a fixed index annuity and wait 12 months to determine if any interest has been credited and then withdraw the previous years interest over the second year all at once, semi-annually, monthly even direct deposit to your bank account. This is how to use a fixed index annuity with a current rate based on an index strategy you chose, to pay you a current income, in other words you can defer your income or interest payment for twelve months. The safety and security of fixed indexed annuities that provide current income is a popular choice for an IRA, 4O1k, and 4O3b rollover What is driving this crack down on business you may ask. Did you know that as of this year, 38 states have passed laws that require business owners to see a passport or Social Security card from each employee. The Social Security administration admits that we have 15,000,000 illegal aliens in the country but business experts put that number between 25,000,000 to 30,000,000. All of those people need social security numbers in order to be hired. For arguments sake, let's assume there are only 15,000,000 illegals. If each one of those folks paid just $10 in FICA withholding each week, $150,000,000 would be going to the Social Security Administration on a weekly basis. Given they are $4 TRILLION in the hole, they have NO incentive to let the actual owner of the Social Security number know that another 10, 20, 80 people are using that same Social Security number since they only have to pay out to the real owner. But the IRS is going to take a real interest when they see how much "you" earned at your 10, 20 or 80 different jobs and none of "you" did the proper withholding. Disgruntled workers with access to the data files of their employer's clients or the other employees in the company, can make a lot of money selling little pieces of you. They can sell your Social Security number Identity for $100, they can sell your credit card info (financial identity)for $50-$100 per card, they can sell you medical insurance information for $60 and they can sell your driver's license identity for $150, which will have a negative impact on your character/criminal identity if they decide to rob a liquor store and get caught with "your" driver's license. Anyone who has been noticing, 2 of last year's Reader's Digest covers will already know the devastation caused by medical identity theft. The government recently decided that the DMVs of each state needed to be able to recognize what the actual driver's licenses of all the other states looked like so that when a resident of Florida moves to California, the CA DMV can recognize a "real" Florida license. Yo Teaching Employees to Under Perform al and civil litigation and in fact Identity Theft issues are expected to be THE next hot class action target.Recently I was talking with Fred, a new manager, who said he couldn't win for losing. When he delegated and checked up, his employees would get annoyed, stubborn, and resistant, claiming he was micro-managing. If I don't check, he said, they don't do it. In either case, I'm not getting what I need, and what our clients need. Clients are complaining and my manager thinks I'm not producing. When we looked at a specific example, the problem started to get real clear.Upper management had asked for an upgrade for an existing service. They wanted additional features, requiring new technology. The technology was common in the industry, and should have been easily implemented. Implementation was slated for the end of the quarter, an easy 3 month project. In the past, Fred would have delegated it to the appropriate junior employee, then checked in regularly, like a couple of times a week, to see if it was done. His employees were understandably annoyed. They hadn't had time to source a vendor, let alone implement any changes before he was asking if they had finished. So, this time, Fred delegated the task to Grant, told him when to be done, and then didn't mention it, except in the weekly staff meetings. Each week, Grant would have a good story why things weren't moving a What is driving this crack down on business you may ask. Anyone who has been noticing, 2 of last year's Reader's Digest covers will already know the devastation caused by medical identity theft.Just because your home is on wheels doesn't mean you can't take advantage of tax deductions such as the mobile home tax deduction. In fact as long as you pay taxes to the local government of the area in which you have parked your home you can qualify easily for the tax reduction. The reasoning behind this is, is how the Internal Revenue Service defines a home, they define it as a house, co-op, condominium, mobile home, trailer or even a houseboat. All you need is to have a sleeping area, cooking area and toilet facilities and you are a home and if you are a mobile home, can qualify for a home tax reduction. One area they can include in the tax rebate is any mortgage interest they may have to pay. If you are a joint tax holder you can deduct the entire amount of interest, with a limit of $1 million. In order to find out how much interest there is you just have to wait until you receive your Form 1098 at the end of the year. Once you have this you know how much interest you can claim for your tax deduction. In fact the mortgage interest is probably the largest thing that can be included in the tax reduction. Any points that are due to you will be reflected on your Form 1098 and this is the amount that is deductible on your tax reduction. You may also include in your tax deduction is what is called a home acquisition debt. You never get the notice to appear and they sure aren't going to show up at your trail, so a bench warrant goes out in your name and the next time you are stopped for some routine traffic violation, the real you is going to jail. How many times do the criminals say, "OK, you got me." Isn't the regular drill something like, "You've got the wrong guy. It wasn't me." Except this time it WAS the data based you. The second most prevalent form of identity theft reported to the Federal Trade Commission involves people committing crimes in another person's name. Imagine being the helpless victim of Character/Criminal Identity Theft.Through former business and employment roles, I have previously serviced numerous marketing communications projects. My own personal path influenced my approach to design and execution, and I learned several lessons along the way which you will probably find valuable. Some of these lessons were acquired through business startup experiences that entailed bootstrapping as an entrepreneur; others were from servicing clients. There is little incentive for anybody in the business to tell you how to save big money, and the tips that I plan to share with you do make a few jobs less profitable for certain producers. On the other hand, if you use this knowledge, they will R-E-S-P-E-C-T you!Rule-of-Thumb: The More You Print, the Lower the CostLet’s start with an easy concept: the more copies of an item that you print, the cheaper each individual copy becomes (rule-of-thumb, but of course there are exceptions). I’ll use an extreme example, just to help you get your critical thinking cap on and creative juices flowing. Suppose that you hire a designer to create some business identity basics for your new company, e.g., a logo and some basic stationery items. Within the trade, there are guidebooks listing the going rates for these services among professional firms and designers. However, you will find wide variat Only one out of 700 criminals engaged in ID theft are caught. This is a crime wave with no end in sight and as more and more of employees fall victim, it will hurt the bottom line of their employer since the Federal Trade Commission says that on average, it takes 600 hours to restore your identity. That is 15 40 hour work weeks. Who has that kind of time? ALL the data leaks are coming from ignorance on the part of businesses or the government themselves. The Census Bureau is very proud that they have ONLY lost 1,200 lap top computers with millions of names and personal information on American citizens. So the government is clamping down HARD on businesses because they can't do a thing on the criminal front. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) clearly identifies “unauthorized access” as a type of security breach that each business must address. That means each computer needs to be password protected and the password can't be put on a yellow sticky on the monitor. You need a clean desk policy at the end of each business day with ALL personal information locked up. ID theft crime rings have set up "janitorial" businesses that come in at night and copy client and employee data files, go through unlocked file cabinets and trash looking for personal info, employment applications etc. Confidence men (women) can take jobs as low level temporary office employees and steal the data bases with all the information of the businesses clients. In "The Coming Pandemic" (5/15/06 article in Chief Information Officer magazine) the writer says, "If you experience a security breach, 20% of your affected customer base will no longer do business with you. 40% will consider ending their relationship, and 5% will be hiring lawyers!" The author also stated, "When it comes to cleaning up this mess, companies on average spend 1,600 work hours per incident at a cost of $40,000 to $92,000 per victim." Here is an outline of the major laws that affect ID Theft and have led to absolute liability to businesses that have not secured their files. ID Theft was finally recognized as a crime in 1998 when Congress passed the Identity Theft and Assumption Act and established the Federal Trade Commission as the lead agency to enforce and fine businesses for non compliance. The FTC says
