    Medical Billing - GU0 Record Fields 18 Through 25
Even though there is no formal education for being a medical biller, medical billing itself can be quite complicated. There are enough rules and regulations to turn a sane man into a raving lunatic. The GU0 record does nothing to make the job any easier as it is probably the most complex CMN in the system. In this installment, we cover the GU0 record, picking up with field number 18.GU0 field 18, positions 63 - 70, is the date of last medical exam. This field tells the carrier when the last date it was that the patient saw the doctor who prescribed this CMN. If the last date seen is before the date of the CMN, in some cases the carrier will not pay on the claim. This is why this d

10 Ways to Build Your Prospect List through Activities
Your schedule can get pretty full if you are calling ten people a day, following up on leads and doing the work required. You have to make sure that the work you are providing is of the best quality possible or you will lose the customer in the long run. It is also of prime importance that you schedule ten activities per week. It may seem like a lot but if you think about how you spend your time during the day, you only need to schedule two things per day. As you likely eat lunch everyday, you can attend networking meetings or special events during those time slots. You can do the same for breakfast although eating out all the time can exhaust you. Activities do not necessarily mean you need t
Recently I was visiting some family members over the holiday season. I thought I would drop into my favorite pizza outlet and sneak one of their luscious pies that I really should not be eating. You see, (and this is my gilt-edged excuse...) I don't have one of these outlets within 500 miles of where I now live, so I figure this is a good excuse to cheat on the old diet a bit.

I had not been in this outlet for more than 18+ months, and then only a few times. The owner-franchisee (let's call him Vijay for simplicity) was in the back; but the moment he saw me, he came out with a huge smile and said: "Hello Mr. double-cheese-sausage-and-mushroom...how are you?" He did not remember my name (if he ever knew it in the first place); but he remembered my face and my favorite pizza nearly two years later!

I was shocked and delighted at this. He remembered some of our conversations when we had talked about some of my franchising experiences over the years in six different countries; particularly my being the first to open a "Burger King" in Australia, and helping to launch KFC and Pizza Hut there too. I immediately asked him how things were going.

He grimaced and did not look happy. "I am now the owner of this store. They made me an

Logo-ize For Instant Identification & Increased Awareness
The task of creating an indelible impact on the memory of your target market is arduous but can be made much easier with a well thought out logo. The word comes from the ancient Greek where it was used in philosophy and theology to mean “the divine reason implicit in the cosmos, ordering it and giving it form and meaning.” The function of a logo in today’s business world is much the same – to make the visual identification of your company implicit by giving it form and meaning. The form and meaning of a logo are expressed in three elements – name, slogan, and icon. Think for a moment of the fabulously successful sporting goods and apparel company, Nike. The name obviously, is the nam

Scammers Use Better Business Bureau Name To Commit Scams
The Better Business Bureau recently issued a national alert to warn consumers and businesses about two questionable operations that are falsely using the BBB name to scam victims. One business is perpetrating an advance fee loan scam that targets consumers and businesses with poor credit records. It has provided as a reference fictitious BBB phone numbers that are answered by representatives who falsely claim to be with the Better Business Bureau and provide a positive report on the business in question. The other entity, which appears to be a telemarketer, is contacting local businesses, falsely stating to be from the BBB and calling about a complaint or to update BBB files. Procurement Budgeting
Procurement describes the acquisition of goods or services at the best possible cost, in the right quantity, time and place, for the direct benefit of the firm. The question now arises: how do you prioritize when you only have a limited amount of money to spend? That’s where the role of budgeting comes in.A budget is a quantitative expression of financial plans. How are budgets useful? Budgets induce management to think systematically about the future. They also serve as a device for coordinating the complex operations of the business, and provide a medium for communicating the financial goals of the firm.In order to be useful, the budget must be drawn up for a specific time peri

Pharmaceutical Sales Interview Questions - How To Answer Behavioral Questions Like a Pharma Pro
Pharmaceutical sales interview questions are typically situational (behavioral) in nature. These techniques are based on the premise that past behavior is a great indicator of future behavior. Therefore, all behavioral interview questions ask you to provide examples of real life occurrences that illustrate a particular skill or ability, as in organization, teamwork, persuasion, sales ability, tenaciousness, etc. These questions usually begin with any of the following:Tell me about a time when...Give me an example where...Describe a situation where...This is your alert to answer the question by providing a real life example. However, there's m

He grimaced and did not look happy. "I am now the owner of this store. They made me an offer I thought I could not refuse, and so instead of operating it for them, I now own it and I have lost several thousand dollars this year." I was astonished. This was a huge, successful pizza franchise that was famous for making money...lot's of it. I asked him how and why he thought this was happening. He answered with two reasons: the rent was too high (which it was when he confided in me just how much he was paying for this location) and more importantly, the constant discounting by way of couponing was killing him.

Additionally, other pizza outlets had opened up not too far from him and increased the choices for the younger demographic that patronize pizza places for the most part. He has a nice sit down dining area, a super-clean, efficient store, but a lousy parking lot with bad egress and exit. Now here's the point: the franchisor, in an effort to generate sales volume (remember how the franchisor earns his money, right?) will do anything (including lots of couponing)
