I interviewed Shirley Phelps-Roper on Friday, April 13, 2007. She is the spokesperson for Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, and they have risen to infamy due to their practice of picketing the funerals of American soldiers killed in Iraq. I wanted to discuss her church’s theological position on salvation, and try to get to the root of their ministry of hate. The interview did not go the way I wanted. Her method is to fillibuster and not allow any counter response, and after 45 minutes, she hung up on me. I sent her the following email as a result.
