Make Your Conference Attendance More Productive rget your market in other ways. A couple of years ago my son came over to the house and asked me to put up a site for the musical instruments he sells. Because he knew about everyone that was interested in the particular instruments he sells he knew he would have no problem promoting his new site. He had them on his e-mail list. When he e-mailed his friends and told them that he had a site, his friends blogged and he had instant traffic and because of his new Internet Presence, he sold more instruments than ever.. He doesn’t need Google to make money.Throughout our careers we are all required to attend conferences, industry meetings, retreats, strategic off-site meetings. These events are all called different names but the idea is the same – you need to be away from your home or office for a period of time. To ensure this is a productive activity for you I have created a list of tips you can use before, during and after the conference event. Before the ConferencePhone Ahead – a concierge is the greatest source of information for any new city or hotel. When you contact the hotel where you are staying ask several questions including:Is there a health club or gym? Is there an additional fee for use of this facility? Is there Internet access in your room and is this an additional charge? Is there a hotel shuttle? Does the hotel provide a pick up service from the airport? Are there shops close by i.e. grocery Because of my son’s success, I reluctantly decided to get back to my vocational roots. I just set up the sites and I’m now getting traffic because I’ve told people I know and who know me, or of me, worldwide that I have a new site that they will be interested in. That includes organizations and magazines and journals. I am giving away a useful technical table and I’m selling an e-book that I wrote. I decided there was an auxiliary market too and I’m selling books on that site including one I authored some time back.< A New Lease in Productivity and Financial Fulfillment There are a number of ways to promote on the Internet. Some are better than others. Here are two popular ones:More and more people are flocking to the franchise concept as a means to achieving financial success without climbing the corporate ladder. This is not really surprising as today’s competitive job market is getting harder and harder to enter. Moreover, the globalization of economies, jobs among other things has taken out much of the security and reliability of jobs in the market today. Today, you’ll never know if you are going to be replaced by machines or software capable of doing the job you do and as companies expands and preens on the stock market, layoffs and retrenching has become an acceptable way of streamlining operations. It is not just the new graduates who are victims of this ongoing trend, even employees of long service to their companies are finding themselves out in the streets looking for a way to make a living out of the experience and knowledge they have gathered from their professions. With the job market hi The FIRST is to set up an affiliate program. This assumes that you have products or services which can be followed by other products or services. You put an affiliate link on your site and some of your buyers will become affiliates as will as some non-buyers. If you can develop a good email list of affiliates you have the base for selling to your affiliates while they sell for you. What could be better than that? All you need is the software to handle your e-mail traffic, to set up affiliate sites, and pay the affiliate commissions, etc. It is not cheap to get going and you may have to add staff to boot. So much for your one-man show. When you read that Joe Blow Magic made $34,000.00 in 14 hours, it may not be tripe. He just mailed an offer to his mailing list and folks bought because “their good personal friend” Joe Blow Magic sent it to them so—it had to be good. Now Joe Blow Magic brags about his recent achievement and recruits a zillion more people in to his program—each of which is placed on his mailing list and many of which become his affiliates. Folks don’t call him Joe Blow Magic for nothing. He is what is called an Internet guru. Now Joe will say that he is not a guru in his sales letters. He will always go back to his early beginnings, how he was dead broke, how his wife left him, how the creditors were at the door. He will then explain that he worked for years on the Internet spending thousands of dollars but he never made one red cent. Then one day he talked to....... Then one day he found a niche market.... Then one day he stumbled on an old friend...... Now Joe Blow Magic sit on the beach and plays with his laptop computer for a few minutes making a zillion dollars in no time at all. That’s what he says anyway. This method is not the first thing you should do in Internet Marketing. The SECOND method is to drive traffic to your site, strangers that is. The hard way to do that is to fiddle with search engine listings or you can have the professionals do it. Sometimes the professionals do worse than you do. Buying hits has never worked for me. Hits that are not really hits by people who have no interest in your site is what you are usually buying. They may be pop-ups or pop-unders or such or surfing sites and they are ignored by the guy searching the web. PPCs (pay-per-click)changed things for the better for some people. For many novices, money just goes down the drain. They find themselves in with “the big boys” and they get clobbered because they can not afford the “good” keywords. Going to a site like Wordtracker http://tinyurl.com/2hzxfs can help find some words that have a fair audience but do not cost an arm and a leg. I’ve done that and made zilch. The reason is that I had too broad a market with lots of competition. Google Adwords® has changed things for the better or for the worse. Google’s software engineers have made things so difficult that the “experts” are writing e-books by the hundreds to explain how to use it. The site is http://adwords.google.com/ What happens with a novice is that his money is gone in a flash by choosing expensive keywords or by choosing keywords that are not really keywords and do not create clicks. In the second case his ad is shut down. The reason is that not enough people are clicking on his keywords and Google is making no money. When the novice ask Google what to do he gets a mile long e-mail that confuses the hell out of him. With many, that is the sum of their experience with Google. That is why there are so many e-books being sold on how to get rich at Google using their Adwords®. Entrepreneurs are born with it in their blood. The thing is, more often then not, students are left out of the loop. You see, as children, entrepreneurs are encouraged to dream – kids can be anything they want. But by the time they hit their teens it becomes painfully apparent that they are either going to give up those dreams and settle into the 9 to 5 grind or wait until they have some post secondary education before they can really get moving with their entrepreneurial ambitions.I don’t know why this happens. I went through it myself. I think that anybody with entrepreneurial drive should be taken seriously. Students are no exception. I was in university when I started my first serious venture. I met with fierce resistance from friends and family alike. Why jeopardize school for a pipe dream? How to get your federal firearms license may seem like a daunting task, but when you take it step by step, it can be as easy as filling out paperwork at a doctor’s office. Remember that you have a second amendment right to have a firearm but to sell a firearm is a totally different task to embark upon. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives dictate how to get your federal firearms license. There are certain things that they will and will not require of you, including these:• You must be at least twenty one years old. There is no exception to this rule. You have to be twenty one just to own a gun, why would you think you could sell one at a younger age?• You must have a place to set up a business. This must be an actual building or store where you can sell guns and collect money safely. Your garage will Because of my son’s success, I reluctantly decided to get back to my vocational roots. I would tell you the names of my sites but the editor gets mad if I self-promote. You can find them listed on my personal site. He or she might allow that comment. The key to the success on the Internet is to find a niche market that you can reach while avoiding excessive competition. You need knowledge. Some of the free e-books on the Internet are almost as good as the expensive ones. If you can find a mentor that is not just out to get your money, that is good. There is one very good book that is very inexpensive. If you e-mail me, I’ll tell you who sells it. I make no commission on the book. Don’t go broke trying to get started. You will be told you must spend a lot of money to get established. The guys that are telling you this in one of their promotion letters also say they started from nothing in other promotion letters. If you can write an e-book with good information for a niche market you can buy a domain name and host your site for low cost on sites like www.godaddy.com You can use www.PayPal.com to collect your money and deliver the e-book from your site. I suggest you put your book in PDF format so that nobody will be confused about it when they download it. If your word processor won’t do that, go to www.adobe.com and they will do it for you. Once you get things going, you can think about affiliate programs and mailing lists and such that can put YOU on the beach! With a niche market, Google Adwords® make sense. Did I tell you I was born in the depression ,that I hated the government-provided cornmeal mush, that the soles of my shoes were always flapping, that I had to walk a mile to school in the snow, that I made money by cutting lawns, that I carried buckets of produce for a peddler, that my mom would not let me have a paper route in case the company would come after her for money, that I set pins in a bowling alley and when I got second-bowled I sent the ball back down the center of the alley, that .........
