Having multiple marketing streams is the life-blood of any lead generation and lead nurturing program. But don’t count on your company’s marketing department to do it for you, it’s not their job to promote you the sales person– they’re supposed to promote the company.“Every failure is a blessing in disguise, providing it teaches some needed lesson one could not have learned without it. Most so-called Failures are only temporary defeats.” - Napoleon HillDoes downsizing really hurt an organization or is it ‘hype?’ Federal leaders need to carefully consider their response. Was it just another fad in corporate America? Let’s review. In the quest for profit in the 90s, many businesses lost focus on the importance of socio-technical systems. Katsioloudes, a management guru, stated that as profitability of mechanization increases, technology is amplified while workers are often devalued. Pfeffer, author of The Human Equation, argued that an organization’s success is directly related to its implementation, and this capacity comes from the workers. However, most workers no longer trust management in any organizational structure. According to a USA Today poll, nearly half of those interviewed said that corporations can be trusted only a little or not at all when it involves looking out for the best interest of employees. Therefore, organizational structure will ultimately fail without proper strategy. For federal workers, this current environment has caused them to demand more than the current organizational status quo. The 21st century presents a brave, new world of personnel challenges, such as virtual organizations, outsourcing, and the financial constraints of declining budgets in many federal agencies. Some of the cultural changes include acceptance of downsizing as a part of work life, the traditional family decline, competitive nature of a global Many rain-makers that I know earn well into the 6 and 7 figures. As a business model, it is taught in major universities around the world. The Wall Street Journal stated, “…between 50% and 65% of all goods and services sold in this millennium will be through network marketing.” It is a business model that is perfectly suited to the “information age.”What is this “Business Model?” Network marketing is a way of doing business that is different from the “traditional” model used by most consumer packaged goods, food and drug companies. It is one of the most promising income opportunities in American today. It is the idea of many people each doing a little work, as opposed to a few people doing a lot of work. To quote J. Paul Getty, the world’s first billionaire, “I’d rather have 1% of the efforts of 100 people than 100% of my own.”Rather than using the customary distribution process of moving products from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer, network marketing companies use a network of independent marketers to move products directly from the manufacturer to the consumer. Further, the cost structure of a network marketing organization is different than a traditional packaged goods marketer. With a traditional company, millions of dollars are spent on advertising to entice consumers to buy that company’s products instead of the virtually identical product from another company. With a network company, the advertising expense is channeled into sales commissions for distributors who promote the product through “word-of-mouth” advertising, i.e. by telling other people about the product. We can’t imagine a single day without the use of soap. It is an essential part of cleanliness in our civilized society. There are three different forms of soap available in the market. These are Soap Bars, Detergent Powders and Liquid Soaps. Now we will discuss how these are manufactured in detail.Bar Soap: The raw materials in bar soaps are fats, fatty acids and inorganic water-soluble bases. Fats are extracted from mutton tallow, beef, coconut, palm and palm kernel oils. After extracting the raw material it goes to a treatment plant to make it pure.A continuous process makes it into a liquid form of soap. During the process glycerin is produced as a byproduct. The neat liquid soap then goes through a process called vacuum spray drying, to form dry soap palette. In the final phase the dry palettes go to the finishing line. An amalgamator blends soap palettes with all other ingredients, colorants and fragrance. In a rolling mill and refining plodder the soap palettes are then homogenized and refined. In this section the soaps palettes get the desired texture. Then the palettes are cut into the bar size and in a press unit the stamping process is done.Detergent Soaps: In the case of powder detergents three processes are used. These are dry mixing, spray mixing and agglomeration. Spray drying process combines all constituents into a thick suspension in a big tank. The thick suspension is then heated and lifted to the top of a tower by pumping it. At the top of the tower small nozzles spray the suspension with high pressure. Some of the men/women use one combination of skills to achieve their goals while others use a different combination. Despite these differences all of the men/women have basic skills that comprise the canvass on which the picture is painted. To know what these skills are is to know your own chance of becoming successful. Before we begin to define each of these skills it is important to know what type of success you are looking for. Even though each skill is beneficial some skills are more prone to success in one arena versus another. Success can be defined in multiple ways but typically are applied to relationships (family and friends) and business (financial). The following skills can be applied to both your relationships and to your business.Skills for Success:1.) Emotional Intelligence: Whether you are in the business field or with your family your emotional intelligence defines how you act and react to emotions. Most of us have met the emotional infant who screams and yells at the smallest event but few of us have met those special people who handle problems with a coolness of temperament that would make even Clint Eastwood frustrated. The higher your emotional intelligence the greater chance people will follow and listen to you.2.) Persistence and Confidence: Thomas Edison was an inventor by nature. He failed more times than he had success. Each time he failed he learned something new, adjusted his approach and went after the solution with the same tenacity he had previously. • Self-Branding. He has created a platform that gets him, and his firm, noticed.Though various reasons are attributed for starting a business the main reason without any doubt is to make money. People who start a business know very well that they can never become rich by working for someone else all life long.To start a business and run it successfully, a range of essential entrepreneurial skills are necessary. If success is what you are after, then it stands to reason that you possess most of the essential skills or acquire them before you commence your business especially if you want to run the business yourself. The other alternative will be to take in a partner or employee who possesses a particular skill or the skills that you are deficient in.What then are the essential entrepreneurial skills the business entrepreneur should possess?1. Planning Skill.Proper planning is the fundamental first step you should undertake when you consider starting a new business. Feasibility of the business, marketing of the product, local competition and funding are some of the essential aspects that should be studied carefully. Good planning should be able to forecast and foresee the changing market conditions and adopt suitable strategies to counter or take advantage of them. They should also explore possibilities of adding new products or services to keep up with the changing circumstances and beat the competition.2.Technical or Knowledge Skill:If you are turning out a product, you should possess the necessary skills to produce that product. Experience gained in working in similar work places or a professional qualification will stand you in good stead. Of course for certa • Corporate Branding. A rain-maker want-to-be should focus their branding efforts for their specific sales area. They will take out ads themselves if their company doesn’t do it. o Sponsorships - Strategic hand-outs that provide money for events, underwriting newsletters, other corporate outings, or even associations can go a long way. While helping USWeb/CKS grow their revenues, we gave out golf umbrellas that had their logo on it at an industry golf outing. It was a hot sunny day. Many people invited to golf outings aren’t really golfers - we became heroes to those prospects that really needed the shade. Nobody talked about any of the other trinket’s that other companies gave out. o Advertising - Advertise where your prospects lurk. Online: buy banners on association and exposition sites before the big event, or at industry magazine sites. Look into broadcast advertising and print advertising. I know a real estate rain-maker here in Chicago. He worked out a deal with a billboard company. Instead of buying just one billboard for 12 months, he worked with them to place his advertisement when they had contracts expire. The result netted him staggered one-month exposures on 12 different billboards all throughout the city of Chicago – his market. He paid for it himself. The ads created a huge buzz and a 5:1 return on investment. • Networking/Referral. This is where most rain-makers spend the majority of their time. It’s extremely effective, but it’s also the major reason so many of them are missing other potential prospects. You can’t reach everyone by networking. Focus on networking with: o Clients – Your clients are the most influential salespeople for your company. They can lead you into wonderful new accounts simply by making the introduction.
