That saying means that we are not good for this earth or to this world—‘earth’ being the ‘world’. We will not be ‘of this world’ forever, so we should be preparing for the place where we will spend eternity.
How do you plan for something that you know is ahead? An event that you know is coming up—what do you do to make yourself ready for it? If food is required (and you’re like my mom was) you sit down and make a list or a menu so that nothing is forgotten or left out as you prepare for the day to come. If it’s a fancy event you want to have just the right clothes to wear. It may even require going to the mall to buy a new outfit.
So what do we need to do to prepare for our eternity? Well it has a lot to do with where we decide to spend it. If our desire is to be with the Lord Jesus Christ and worship God the Father, then we need to be heavenly minded.
How do we get heavenly minded? Sounds like we would need to have a mind like the Lord in heaven…is that possible?
I Corinthians 2:16 says: "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
