    We finally got to hear the lecture on anxiety management at the cardiac rehab program I go to.

    I was happy to know that I had already been doing quite a few of the measures that the instructor recommended.

    We come back to the breathing techniques, yoga for relaxation, visualization. Diet, exercise, change of attitude, massage and also what is called self-talk.

    This list seems long to most people but let me assure you that when you get busy and begin to incorporate these techniques into your daily life they will become automatic to you and if you miss doing them your mind will tell you that something in your day is missing.

    Yes we are allowed to be imperfect and skip a day or forget but these things can become habits too and work at sabotaging our efforts to eliminate stress.

    Our minds can trick us and the old patterns are strongly ingrained so there may be a feeling of resistance.

    As with any knew thing we introduce into our lives it is different from our normal routine and just learn to recognize the feelings of resistance and keep forging ahead with whatever technique or program you are working on.

    Here are some of the ways we sabotage ourselves and keep stress in our lives.

    Judging, criticizing self and others, holding grudges, accepting only perfection, always needing to be right,needing to be in control of everything, not being able to say no, trying to please everyone,constant worry over what others might think, thinking we are not good enough, being taken in by the bad attitudes of others, needing to prove ourselves and finally, negative self talk.

    As always, keep working at your own system and ask for help. Remember that knowledge is power and our inner power is extremely strong when we encourage it to help us by using our chosen positive habits.
