Writing Technique-How To Finish Stalled Writing Projects
Nothing matches the fun of starting a new writing project. Often however it's hard to sustain the initial enthusiasm. You may find that many of your projects stall - no matter what you do, you can't restart them.Whether you're writing for your own entertainment, or are writing on commission, stalled projects are depressing - if indeed they are stalled. Is Your Writing Project Stalled, Or Finished? With my writing students, I find that at least half the projects a student has trouble finishing are already complete. Sometimes it's hard to know when to designate a project as complete, polish it, and move on.If you're having trouble finishing an article, look at your original premise, or angle. Have you covered everything you meant to cover? If you've left one topic dangling, just prune it, and tinker with the article until it reads smoothly, and hey presto - you're done.Washing Garbage - Fatally Flawed Projects Some projects are just fatally flawed. There's no way that you can complete these projects at all - either your premise was wrong, the characters are cardboard, or you can't get the research interviews you nee

Winning Repeat Business - Follow-Up Techniques That Work
The secret to obtaining repeat customers and building a solid referral system is following up in a way that has a positive effect on the customer, says sales and marketing expert Danielle Kennedy. She says that although closing a sale can be seen as the completion of servicing the customer’s needs, it’s really only the beginning of a relationship with the customer. In an article in Entrepreneur magazine, Kennedy quotes Ted Levitt, former editor of the Harvard Business Review: “The sale merely consummates the courtship. Then the marriage begins. How good the marriage is depends on how well the relationship is managed by the seller.”A good follow-up involves three basic elements:Gratitude: Call or e-mail the customer to say thank you and find out if he/she is pleased with the product or service. Accountability: Accept full responsibility for problems. Don’t pass the buck and say “such-and-such department should have known better.” A commitment to further serve: Tell customers what you can do rather than what you cannot do for them.Kennedy offers a few pointers for effective follow-up practices that have been successful throughout her career in retail.Th
You can have control over the stressful events in your life by developing a plan of action. How you manage your life involves choice - you choose to change what you can and develop coping skills for what you choose to tolerate. This plan will assist you in sorting through the issues.

      Step One: Review the Basics

We are familiar with how stress makes us feel. We know we're uncomfortable when we feel the pressure inside building, our heart starts beating fast and our palms get cold and clammy. Sometimes we recognize it for what it is and other times it's combined with so many emotions that it's difficult to put a label on it.

      Stress - The Energizer

We think of stress as something to eliminate but stress is also essential to a fulfilled life. It’s what enables us to give interesting presentations, makes sporting events fun to watch, serves as a protection in dangerous situations and motivation during a challenge.

      My Favorite Definition

Stress is a normal physiological response to perceived threats designed to energize you. It includes physical, mental and emotional reactions to internal or external events.

What Are The Different Kinds of Stress?

Acute stress is short term and short lived. An example would be approaching an intersection and almost getting into an accident.

Repetitive stress is caused by pressures that affect us repeatedly such as driving in rush hour traffic. It's one of the factors in road rage.

Chronic stress occurs when we are exposed to pressures over a long period of time. Living in an unsafe neighborhood or caring for an aging parent would be examples of chronic stress.

      Step Two: The Stress Assessment

Stress Management is an ongoing process. Our lives are so busy that events can take us by storm before we realize there is a problem. Looking at the whole picture can give you a better idea of the stress you face day to day.

Are your surroundings comfortable and pleasing?

      • Is your environment comfortable, organized and clean?
      • Can you easily find important papers?
      • Do you have maintenance issues left unfinished in your environment?
      • Is your home large enough to allow quiet time for each family member?
      • Is your neighborhood safe?
      • Does your car run smoothly and is it reliable?

Wedding Ceremony: Guide to a Civil Ceremony
Customs & Traditions: The Civil CeremonyIf both you and your groom are not religious and do not subscribe to any particular religion the thought of being wed in a church with a religious ceremony probably doesn’t sit well. Moreover, if you both come from different religious backgrounds you may choose not to acknowledge them both by having an interfaith ceremony. You may also wish to include your own vows, readings, or other creative elements which are not allowed in other religious ceremonies. It is for these reasons that more and more couples are opting to have secular ceremonies while still following tradition - saying “I do” surrounded by all of your friends and family in a beautiful setting followed by a fabulous reception!Civil ceremonies are conducted by Officiants who are legally entitled to do so (that is, sign your marriage license). Before choosing your Wedding Officiant, you should be sure to ask them the following questions:1. Is the Officiant available on our wedding date and will they travel to our location? 2. What fees does the Officiant charge? 3. How many weddings has the Officiant performed? 4. Ask for a ceremony itinerary including

Biography of My Favorite Hair Designer
At six foot-three inches, it is nearly impossible to miss Rodolfo Valentin’s ubiquitous presence, especially in the salon, where he appears to be more comfortable. Here, Rodolfo gracefully moves from station to station insuring that each client is satisfied. But moreover, his watchful eye insures that his creative precision is achieved, time and time again.Rodolfo Valentin has spent the past twenty years of his life building a career as a hair designer, on which its foundation is aptly supported by his commitment to perfection.Since his teenage years in Argentina, the passion for hair and beauty came to him and he has stayed loyal to his vision, to be a hair designer, one that looks at both the inner beauty and external features of a woman and then determines how that individual’s hair should be worn. Unlike most hair stylists that look solely at the woman’s outer appearance, Rodolfo Valentin considers her mood, emotions and feelings. This unique approach sets Rodolfo Valentin apart from the rest of the hair stylist pack, and thus fosters a reputation as a trendsetter in the industry.Destined for international claim, Rodolfo Valentin was soon tapped by renowned sty

Goldwater Wouldn't Recognize Bush as a Republican
Lou Dobbs interviewed Barry Goldwater’s grand daughter on his show last night (September 18th, 2006). She has just finished making a documentary about her grandfather and Lou had some very nice things to say about it. It is being shown on HBO.Among other things she interviewed her mother for the film who said that Barry Goldwater would NEVER think that the government had any business interfering with a woman’s right to choose. That is totally consistent with being a true conservative. To further support that idea, here’s one of my all time favorite Goldwater quotes. When someone asked him whether he thought that Gays belonged in the military, he said: “I don’t care about whether a soldier is straight or gay - all I care about is whether he can shoot straight!” That might not be the exact quote but that is the essence of it.From my perspective, being a Republican is an honorable political choice. That is if you a true Republican - a principled Republican - a principled conservative - as Goldwater was.Unfortunately, the Republican party has been high jacked by two groups of morally defective people. One group is the Christian Right and the other is a consortium

              All Children Left Behind
The U.S. educational system was dysfunctional fifty years ago, due in no small part to the desires and manipulations of government. In fifty years it has only become worse for the same reasons. I can hear the echoes. We need scientists, mathematicians and more teachers if we are going to compete in a global economy. And what pray tell, would we need if we were going to cooperate in a global economy? We would need scientists, mathematicians, teachers, artists, tradespersons and craftspersons. But who can afford all that? No, we must decide on what is important and teach to that. Never mind the natural inclinations, abilities or talents of the individual children. America is not about individuals. America is about national pride. America is about money and power and imposing its will. We need children to grow up and carry on this fine tradition. And almost all the people say amen. When the statists weight education, public and private, pretending to know what we will need in twenty years, while they can’t budget money more than a year at a time; all children are left behind. This in spite of any laws they pass, or what they name them. Those who are pushed into science, math and teac
