  Off all the mentioned golfing events, the open championship is the oldest. Outside the UK, it is referred as “The British Open”. The remaining of the events is held in the United States. Augusta National Golf Club is the venue for The Masters ever since its inception.

  Each of these events has a history of their own and is conducted by different golfing organizers. The event organizers have special recognition all over the world and are given a special status. The winners of these golfing events are given 50 points by the World golf rankings.

      Well, the "big" case of "Fat Nick" Minucci was finally decided. Guilty of hate crimes and assault charges, he was sentenced to 15 years in jail by a judge who could have given him 25 years. Minucci is the 20-year-old from Howard Beach, New York convicted of attacking a young black man looking to rob cars in the predominantly white neighborhood. In New York, this was headline news.All the usual suspects were there like "Reverend" Al Sharpton( yeah, the term is used lightly here) and all the assorted "civil-wrongs" players.         • Only professional golfers were allowed in the inaugural tournament. Willie Park Sr. won the title beating Old Tom Morris by two strokes.
        • The winner got to wear a red leather belt with a silver buckle for first three tournaments. This Custom was retired when Young Tom Morris in 1870 won the event for three consecutive times and the officials allowed him to keep the belt.
        • This belt was replaced by a trophy called The Claret Jug.
        • In 1871, the administration of this event was handed over to The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in association with The Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers.
        • By 1920, The R&A was given full responsibility of the event.

        The Open has been an official event on PGA Tour since 1995.

        THE US MASTERS

        It is the first golfing event played each year. The final round of The Masters is always held on second Sunday of April. It is held at Augusta National Golf Club each year.

        History

        • First held on 22nd March, 1934.
        • Called as Augusta National Invitation Tournament till 1939.
        • In addition to the cash prize, the winner is given a green jacket as a tradition since 1949. Jack Nicklaus was the first to win the event consecutively in 1966.
