If the customer returns, most likely, they will spend more than the gift certificate amount. Another plus is that you get the cash up-front, compared with reducing an item the same price.
Let’s say, you have an item you are selling for $600 with a $100 Gift Certificate. If you sold the same item to the customer for $500, you would have $100 less in your pocket. You can see how gift certificates can add to cash flow and future increase sales. It is a win-win situation.
