As I was enjoying sitting by the pool in West Palm Beach on Christmas Day, I didn't think the day could get any better. The children were playing in the pool. Yes, that's right on Christmas Day, they were in the pool. Anyway, it was a perfect Florida Christmas...I was relaxing as I heard a combination of voices and laughter.

Then it happened. It seems out of nowhere my 6 year old grandson Zach stood in front of me with another handsome boy about his age.

"Grandmother, this is Dolber, Dolber, this is my grandmother." Without a second of hesitation, Dolber stuck his small strong hand out for a handshake and looked me squarely in the eyes. I felt so proud and important. (I know you are not supposed to brag about your grandchildren but I just have to say I was so impressed.) As they say, "I was blown away."

I don't know why I was surprised because I know my daughter spends quite a bit of time teaching Zach and Mikaela manners.

Later on that day, I watched as the children took turns opening Christmas presents. When it wasn’t their turn, they looked on to see what the other child was unwrapping.

After each present was opened, the child then went over and thanked and hugged the neck of the family member that it was from. There was no question about it nor did everyone tear into their presents at once. Before the present was open, the child read or had an adult read whom the gift was from.
