Allan Kempert Discovers That Truly All You Gotta Do Is Ask
A year or so ago, I met Allan Kempert. Allan was the Quality Assurance Supervisor for a metal stamping company in Ontario, and just completed Norman Bodek’s book, The Idea Generator, Quick and Easy Kaizen. As Allan explains, he couldn’t put the book down because it was such a simple approach and he kn
the perspective that emotional displays might be considered to make you vulnerable. Or because putting too much of yourself into a project might lead to a greater feeling of disappointment if you don’t pull it off.

But that’s being really negative. If you can’t be positive about what you’re doing you should give up right now. You’re on the wrong track. Something inside of you is telling you not to do it, you sh

How to Finance your Growing Business using Alternative Financing
Do you own a growing business that needs financing? If you are like most business owners, whenever your business needs money you head over to the bank. Unfortunately, as most small business owners soon find out, most banks do not lend money to businesses unless they have significant collateral and a hi
In my experience people continuously underestimate the advantage that small businesses have over their larger counterparts.

A small business is often started by an entrepreneur with a passionate belief in the value what he or she is doing.

Now I ask you this; have you ever met anyone who works for a large corporation who believes passionately in the value of what they do?

In my experience many of them don’t even like the company they work for. They’re just there for the wage packet. Large company employees more often display passionate dislikes than likes.

So, if you run a small business it makes sense to get really passionate about what you do. This will give you a positive edge.

I have just finished writing a video script about selling with confidence and conviction so I have been giving the subject of belief a great deal of thought of late.

In over 20 years of running my own businesses I have found that when I believe passionately in what I am doing it gives me two great advantages. First, I become so caught up in my ideas that it doesn’t occur to me to be nervous when I am talking about what I do. It doesn’t matter who I am talking to, I just let rip. As a result I don’t experience any feelings of nervousness or tension in “sales” situations.

The second great benefit of belief is that, like all emotions, it is contagious. You’ll find that when you show how much you believe in and care about what you are doing other people get sucked into your circle of enthusiasm.

It is possible that people feel shy or reticent about showing their feelings in the business environment. That might be understandable from the perspective that emotional displays might be considered to make you vulnerable. Or because putting too much of yourself into a project might lead to a greater feeling of disappointment if you don’t pull it off.

But that’s being really negative. If you can’t be positive about what you’re doing you should give up right now. You’re on the wrong track. Something inside of you is telling you not to do it, you sho

Performance Appraisal Checklist: Raise Not Just Appraise Performance
It’s that time again! Perhaps the most dreaded management practice is the annual performance review. Whenever the subject comes up, out comes the groans from both managers and staff no matter what industry or type of company. Many say appraisals are like having a root canal – only more painful. It

    The Almighty Buck
The almighty buck can actually be detrimental to your business. Think about it, if all you think about is how much you can make, are you really focusing on the other aspects of running a business. For example quality control, safety of your product, etc. If money is your only motivating factor, what co

A Smarter Way to Get Paid
The majority of companies employ their staff on a time basis. The employee is contracted to work so many hours each week and is paid for each one of those hours. The questions is....why?Pay-for-Time versus Pay-for PerformanceIf an employee is employed simply to be som

You should give every project you commence a “belief check” before you tell the world what you’re doing. If it doesn’t sound right when you say it out loud, the chances are that it isn’t right for you. But, if it makes you feel great to talk about it, go for it like a raging bull.
