Added for You - Vision Statements that Confuse and Bemuse
Strategy eading/best) (provider/supplier) of (customer focused/market driven (solutions/products/service)". Stated in simple terms, strategy is a complete plan designed specifically for attaining the objectives of the firm. The objectives indicate what the firm wants to achieve; the strategy provides the design for achieving them. It is the strategy that decides the success at the business unit level, which in turn decides the total corporation’s success. The linkage between strategy and overall corporate success is indeed direct and vital. And in this linkage lies the significance of strategy.Since realizing the objectives is the purpose of strategy, it is only logical that strategy takes its direction and cue from the objec As a vision it serves little purpose. It could have been thought of by a group of high school students as a homework exercise in strategy for their economics subject. It is not what we would expect from experienced senior leaders of an organisation. The sta Franchisor; Ongoing Support and Ideas Since the 1970's vision statements have adorned the walls of most organisations, being used to communicate the direction in which an organisation is heading. Most are poor vehicles for that communication and serve mainly to confuse or bemuse the employees they are supposed to guide.Ongoing support for a franchise system is omnipotent. A major part of any family relationship is communication. A large franchise system is similar to a giant family; it needs constant communication. By providing on going support for your franchisees, we will guarantee both success and open communication lines will strengthen you company and team in the market place. Some things, which many franchisors do not do or do not do enough are little things which are really low cost and simple. For instance sending out sales tapes.Sales tapes (cassettes) should be mailed out once per month to franchisees on the 25th of each The majority of vision statements are poor. At best these poor vision statements are not challenging enough to develop the creative tension between the present and the future to energise the organisation. Many however are not even understood by the people in the organisation whose task it is to strive to reach the vision. Vision statements which do not provide a succinct unequivocal view of the direction an organisation is heading in are counterproductive to the aims of most organisations. They are only paid lip service by employees and do not positively influence the behaviour of employees other than providing opportunities to behave in a cynical manner. Vision statements tend to fall into three categories. First is the short and useful which is a rare occurrence. Second is the long tedious and confusing statement, developed by a group of senior managers sitting in a closed room for two days with an erstwhile consulting cramming every stakeholder and every objective in one extraordinarily long sentence. Third is the statement which short relative to the second and seems to have been created by a word generator. Many vision statements fall into the third category. They follow a pattern such as: "To be the (leading/best) (provider/supplier) of (customer focused/market driven (solutions/products/service)". As a vision it serves little purpose. I like marketing, and still sometimes I hate marketing. One of the biggest problems is that there are so many options that it's sometimes impossible to know if you're doing the right things at the right times. I really do understand. If you have thousands of dollars in your marketing budget, you can pay consultants to help you with creating a plan, purchasing print advertising, executing a search engine optimization (SEO) program, creating an effective pay per click internet advert Vision statements which do not provide a succinct unequivocal view of the direction an organisation is heading in are counterproductive to the aims of most organisations. Third is the statement which short relative to the second and seems to have been created by a word generator.Using the internet to find nursing jobs online is a great way to find a job after graduating. The internet is filled with job sites, classified ads, and web sites that advertise nursing jobs in most cities and countries. When a person graduates, they can begin their search for employment from home. They can post resumes, answer ads, and perform company searches. Many companies and hospitals advertise for job openings on the internet. Corporations that are searching for on site nurses will also post advertisements on their web sites. Narrow down the search by looking for companies that have a good reputation for hiring nurses. Many vision statements fall into the third category. Thus a vision statement worded as above will have significantly different meanings to people in the organisation. Clearly this was not the intention of a vision statement, but it is often the reality. The second type tends be of a form such as: "We will be recognised in the (industry/market) as the leader in our (preferred segments/target markets) whilst ensuring the appropriate standards of (safety/environmental protection/corporate governance) are maintained, leveraging our (brand value/consumer reputation) thereby delivering (customer value/shareholder value) and building our future (profits/sales). The first type of statement takes the minimalist approach of finding some words convey the one thing that employees should not forget that the organisation is trying to achieve.
