Car Wash Fundraiser Strategies and Hours of Operations Considerations
If you are considering running a car wash fundraiser for your nonprofit group you may wish to consider the hours of operation of your car wash fundraiser on a busy sunny Saturday. Obviously you will pick a busy location and a place, which has a water outlet and plenty of room to do the car wash fundraiser.Once you have all those things under control you want to determine how many kids you have that can help you wash the cars and it makes sense to break them into shifts. If you have a high school band with 40 kids then you can break them into four shifts of 10 kids each no more than two hours long and if you wanted to you can run your car wash for eight h

    eBooks: The Only Books?
Way back when the internet first learned to walk there was a famous aphorism encouraging it as it took each unsteady step: “Information wants to be free.” Well, while the internet is not old by any stretch of the imagination, it is now upright, sturdy, and racing ahead, two legs strong and insisting: “Information wants to be on the internet!” The resounding boom of this proclamation initially caused other information-related industries—namely print media and publishing—to backpedal or just plain shake. Newspapers, luckily understanding the ramifications of the internet, quickly steadied their nerves and appeared online, first as supplements to their printed versi
I read a lot of newsletters. Some are great and some are not so great. I put together this article to highlight the five mistakes I see most often in people's first newsletter.

    1. When you're composing your newsletter in your email browser, put everyone's email address in the "To" field so that when someone receives your mailing they can see everyone else's address.

Why You Might Not Want To Do This: With the high prevalence of spam (unwanted email) these days, people are very sensitive about their email addresses getting "out there". Also, depending on the topic of your newsletter, your readers may not be comfortable being identified.

What To Do Instead: Put your own email address in the "To" field and use the Bcc. (blind carbon copy) field for everyone else's addresses. A much cleaner look and you're not compromising anyone's privacy.

    2. Don't give your reader a way to unsubscribe, or ignore them when they ask that you stop contacting them.

Why You Might Not Want To Do This: With people using more and more time these days to delete unwanted email from their Inbox, their patience is really getting thin when they get email they didn't ask for. And not responding to an unsubscribe request, well, that's just bad customer service. Have you ever heard that people will tell more people about a bad customer service experience than they will a good one? Don't have them talking about you!

How to Make Your Business Thrive in the 21st Century
The following story is related to my particular business field, but you will see how it relates to all businesses. After location, marketing, and a business plan, our customer service is what keeps repeat business coming back for more. If you don’t value your repeat business, your competition will.If you have a strong customer service staff, good ethical standards, and a mission statement based upon helping the community, you will see your competition send customers to you. They don’t do it on purpose, but by grooming an adversarial relationship, these businesses send abused customers seeking refuge, where they are treated fairly.Recently, I had

The Importance of Autoresponders in Internet Marketing Part I
If you want to be successful in an online business, you have to understand the importance of autoresponders in internet marketing. Without these emailing aids you will find it very hard, if not impossible, to succeed due the time it would take you to communicate by hand, and nobody communicates with their lists by hand these days! Those who have never used autoresponders do not know what they are capable of doing. These pieces of software can actually run your business on autopilot, and when you read of people ‘making money while they sleep’ it is generally through the use of autoresponders. Let’s have a look at what their capabilities are.Let us

Residual Income Opportunities - How to Find Residual Income Opportunities Online (Part I)
This may come as a shock to you, but over the last 20 days, a friend of mine called Steven managed to earn over $4,500 online starting absolutely from scratch. He is currently waiting for his paycheck to arrive and wondering what he can do with this unexpected pile of money that is going to land in his bank account at the end of the month. The secret of Steven’s success lies in his ability to spot profitable residual income opportunities online. What types of residual income opportunities exist on the Internet? What To Do Instead: You can use an email distribution service that will automatically place an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every mailing you send out, plus the system will immediately take the person off your list as soon as they request it. If you're managing your list yourself, then include specific unsubscribe instructions yourself (i.e. to be removed from this mailing list, please send an email to this address – insert your address - with the subject line "Unsubscribe"). And most importantly, promptly honor these requests!

    3. When you meet someone new and chat with them about your business (or the weather), or if they contact you about something unrelated to your business, be sure and immediately add them to your mailing list (don't get explicit permission or let them know you've done it).

Why You Might Not Want To Do This: People don't like it! Just as I mentioned above, people don't want email they're not expecting or haven't asked for. This is especially true if the email is labeled as something that will be sent more than once (like a newsletter).

What To Do Instead: Send your new contact (and your old ones, while you're at it) a complimentary or sample copy of your newsletter and invite them to subscribe if they liked it. Assure them that they haven't been added to your list (you'd NEVER add anyone without their explicit permission).

    4. Be sure not to check your links in your newsletter – that way people will be annoyed AND frustrated when they click and wind up at an error page.

Why You Might Not Want To Do This: You include links in your newsletter because you either want to share valuable information with your readers that you have scoured the
