The History of Wrigley Field
In March 1914, construction began on what is now known as Wrigley Field. At a cost of $250,000, Wrigley Field remains one of the oldest parks in the history of baseball.

New Ball Parks
Do you ever wonder how fans got by in the old baseball stadiums? They were made of all concrete and had little substance or style to them. But in today’s day the ball parks are bigger and better than ever before. Not only do they cater to the players, but the fans also get a great atmosphere as well; and isn’t this what baseball is all about.

Alfonso Soriano
Alfonso Soriano is becoming one of the best players in the National League year in and year out. Not only is he getting the job done in the field, but at the plate Soriano is performing in a big way as well. The bottom line is that Soriano is a mainstay in the league, and if the Washington Nationals continue to build around him they will be in great shape for the next few years to come.
From his position in left field Soriano gets the job done every game of season. He may not be as flashy as some other guys, but Soriano has been known to make some great plays while roaming around the grounds in left field.

Some Teams Simply Get No Respect
The Chicago White Sox might prevail in the Wild Card race and make it to the post-season.
But can they beat a surging Detroit that has the killer combo of talent, leadership, and chemistry?
I doubt it.
Will they get past the Yanks or the Mets? I don't think so. Each of those teams seems like a juggernaut, right now.
The Sox look flat, and that makes me feel flat.

Big Hurt Helps A's While White Sox Sputter
Yesterday, slugger Frank Thomas hit his 28th homer of the season, the 476th of his career, leading to an Oakland Athletics victory that put his team six and one-half games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the Western Division of the American League.
In the meantime, the Chicago White Sox are struggling against the Minnesota Twins, not for the Central Division championship, but for a Wild Card berth.
If The A's make it to the postseason and the Sox do not, the Frank Thomas trade will certainly be re-examined by the press and the fans for its wisdom.

Yankee Gauntlet Comes to a Close
The New York Yankees have finally finished their 21 game in 20 day gauntlet, as the stretch ended just as it started: with Alex Rodriguez struggling. I really feel that I'd be beating a dead horse if I went on and on about how abysmal A-Rod has been playing, both in the field and at the plate; I'll spare him and you all and just say that the guy hasn't been playing nearly as well as he's capable of. All of this poor play can be easily erased if A-Rod has a successful September and October, much like his great season last year was erased by a poor outing in the postseason.

Did Sensitivity Training Kill The White Sox?
There are going to be lots of recriminations when the White Sox fail to make it to the post-season, which feels all but assured at this point.
Did they have enough talent on the squad, especially depth in the bullpen when it comes to middle relief?
Did GM Ken Williams stand pat on trades when he should have acted more like the Dodgers' Ned Colletti, wheeling and dealing throughout the season?
Did Manager Ozzie Guillen blow it, with his gay-bashing rhetoric and runaway mouth?
Of all of these reasons or excuses, I believe it is Guillen, largely, who is to blame.

Don't Panic Just Yet Met Fans
The last few days have featured some of the Mets worst baseball of the season. With Pedro likely headed to the DL for the 2nd time this season, joining Cliff Floyd, the Mets have dropped their first two games at Philadelphia by a combined score of 24-4. Pedro only lasted one inning before being removed with an injured calf and El Duque set a Mets club record for most earned runs allowed in one appearance with 11.

A-Rod: A Liability at Third Base
In the beginning of the year, when A-Rod was hearing it from the boobirds of Yankee Stadium, I was sticking up for the guy. I told friends, family, people on the internet, and fellow fans to give the guy a break and that he would be getting back on track relatively soon. A-Rod would get back to his old ways of playing great offensively, and playing a damn good third base for the Yankees.

What to Watch for in the Mets
The Mets are in a unique position that no other team in the MLB is close to being in. The Mets will not play a meaninglful game until October. Even with the injury to the Duaner Sanchez, the Mets are still on Easy Street to the World Series.
