The Big Ten Report - Big Ten Game of the Year Edition

Last Saturday, the Big Ten Conference featured five predictable outcomes and one surprising upset. The top three teams flexed their muscle while winning by a combined 74 points, and Michigan and Ohio State inched closer to a dream match-up of two 12-0 programs doing battle for a berth in the BCS Title Game.

Heisman Trophy – College Football's Player of the Year Award – Week Five

With another exciting week of college football in the books, this year's race for the Heisman saw two of our top contenders put together personal performances that helped distance themselves from their competitors. Ohio State's Troy Smith and Northern Illinois' Garrett Wolfe put forth performances worthy of Heisman voters’ attention, and also worthy of team victories. An important consideration in this week's analysis is that Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma, and Steve Slaton, West Virginia, enjoyed some extra time off. They will be back in action this week, so we will keep a close eye on their performances to see how their week of rest affects their play.

Lowering the Risk of High School Football Injuries

Football is a dangerous sport. Players endure bruising contact, long practices in hot weather and all sorts of unusual stresses and strains on their muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is not possible to prevent injuries in the game of football and for this reason many parents are hesitant to allow their children to participate.

The Basics of College Football Picks

In recent years, picking college football games has become increasingly popular. During the fall season of college football the process of picking games happens in a number of ways and places. Understanding the different situations and scenarios are why picking football games can be so fun and enjoyable.

Sunday Night Football Breakdown

The last time the New England Patriots faced the Denver Broncos, their two-year Super Bowl run ended. New England will try to get revenge on Sunday Night Football and stay unbeaten when the Broncos come to town. These squads last met in the AFC playoffs in Denver and the Broncos prevailed despite being out gained as they were able to force five turnovers. There are a lot of things you can’t count on when handicapping football games, but I will assure you that the Patriots won’t turn the ball over five times on Sunday.

Heisman Trophy - The Race to Claim the Title of College Football's Premier Player is Heating Up

As conference play approaches, each of the pre-season Heisman hopefuls has either lived up to our expectations of them or begun their slow slide into obscurity. The player who emerges as the final victor will depend not only on outstanding personal performances, but on their team’s ability to consistently win football games - especially key games in their schedules.

Just One Win Can Become A Sign of Total Domination

Many Steelers fans had high hopes yesterday, Big Ben was back, but what they didn’t count with was that barely two weeks after his appendectomy he was not back in form and the Jacksonville Jaguars defense had their way with that.

What Bobby and Whitney Can Teach Us About Football

Chemistry is that aura that cloaks the Indianapolis offense when it takes the field for a two-minute drill. It’s also there when the Chicago defense is crowding the line on third-and-long. Conversely, the lack of chemistry is what makes the Raiders locker room – with Randy Moss, Aaron Brooks, Al Davis and That Guy From Idaho – about as normal as a Flavor Flav-Brigitte Neilson and Charlie Sheen-Denise Richards double-date.

Ferringo College Report: Beast Teams Tear Limbs Off Unsuspecting Visitors

Separation Saturday was a whirlwind of big-time college programs clashing in strategically placed points across the nation. There were seven games featuring 14 teams that ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, with a few surprising blowouts intertwined with some pulse-pounding performances.

NFL Week Two Part Three

In part three of our NFL week two preview, we will look at four NFL games. I'll review the following games: Buccaneers at Falcons, Cardinals at Seahawks, Rams at 49ers and Chiefs at Broncos. There are some good matchups in this group. A couple of teams look to prove themselves this week. Let's take a look.

49ers Head Coach Mike Nolan Reads the Ferringo Report!

Their first play from scrimmage was a 74-yard touchdown from Charlie Frye to Braylon Edwards. That was it. Frye was the right guy for the job! Edwards was back! The Dawg Pound was going berserk! The Cleveland Curse was exorcised! There would be peace in the Middle East! Global warming would be no more!

AP Top 25 College Football Teams Week 2

The new AP TOP 25 college football poll is out and it's pretty much as expected. Ohio State remains number one. Texas is number two. These two teams go to war this week in Texas. One will be left standing with championship hopes. Last season it was a great game. Texas managed to take home the win and it propelled them to the national championship. USC makes a move from 6th in the preseason to 3rd. They looked very impressive in their win this week.
