NFL Week Two Part One

In part one of our NFL week two preview, we will look at four NFL games. I'll review the following games: Bills at Dolphins, Panthers at Vikings, Browns at Bengals, and Lions at Bears. Is there such a thing as a must win game this early in the season? For a couple of these teams, that's a very real reality. Let's take a look.

The Big Ten Report - Week Two

Week two of the college football season proved to be a much tougher test for the Big Ten Conference. The teams combined for a 2-7 ATS record and the two teams that played Div. I-AA opponents did not look impressive either. That being said, the conference does possess the top team in the country in the Ohio State Buckeyes. They appear to be the clear-cut favorite and should be able to run the table providing they can get by a trip to Iowa City on Sept. 30. The following will recap a few of the highlights from week two and preview the last week of non-conference play:

Notre Dame Squeaks By Yellow Jackets

Number 2 Notre Dame squeaked by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday 14-10. At one point in the game, the Fighting Irish were down 10-0. Scores in the 2nd and 3rd quarter helped Notre Dame take a 14-10 lead, which was the final score. Was this really the number two team in the country? This win over unranked Georgia Tech was very unimpressive. After all the touting of Notre Dame in the offseason, I expect much more out of them.

Take Your Fantasy Football Ritalin

My god are Fantasy Football players fickle! Week 1 hasn’t concluded yet, but I’ll make some predictions. AT least 3 players that weren’t drafted in most leagues will have significant games. Charlie Batch qualifies for week 1. (Thank you bad refs and uninspired red flag thrower Nick Saban for the Heath Miller touchdown worth 28 points in one of my leagues!)

Jason Bay

It is safe to say that one of the best players on the Pittsburgh Pirates for the last couple of seasons has been Jason Bay. The thing about Bay is that he does not get a lot of attention do to the fact that he plays for the Pirates; one of the worst teams in the league. But just because Bay is not getting a lot of attention from the media and other fans does not mean that he is a second rent player.

NFL Week 1 Power Rankings

Doc's Sports will rank all 32 teams in the NFL from the strongest to the weakest, with a betting slant, throughout each week of the 2006-2007 NFL season. And without further ado, here are my Week 1 NFL Power Rankings (previous ranking in parenthesis):

NFL Week 1 Games

What great games will we have in week one? This is usually the week when novice football fans realize that preseason doesn't matter. All the good teams return to form and the bad teams, which were dominating in preseason, begin their horrific trip through the regular season. Here's a listing of games going down in week one in the NFL.

The Tigers Will Hang On For Playoffs

The Detroit Tigers, easily the most surprising story of the season so far, are slipping. They still have the best record in the league (though the red-hot Mets are about to catch up to them), but they have lost eight of their last 12 games and 14 of the last 21.

Less Heralded Players Have Shined in Preseason

The preseason is, mercifully, almost over. There have been players that have had exceptional starts. We have heard all about them.

The Demise of the Former Euro Kings

A nostalgic and personal view on a former giant of european and domestic football, Nottingham Forest football club.

NFL 2006 Prediction

The NFL season is always full of surprises. Partway into the season there is always at least one team that surprises and one that disappoints. This off- season had some key moves.

NFL QB Controversies - Who Will Keep Their Job?

There is nothing more potentially distracting to an NFL team than a quarterback controversy. When a starter has his job threatened by a precocious backup, or loses it altogether, it can divide the team and hurt a whining millionaire's feelings. Ask Trent Green or Rob Johnson if they are sending Christmas cards to Kurt Warner or Doug Flutie.

NFL Fantasy Football Mock Draft Results

On Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm EST, I participated in a mock draft for FantasyInsiderOnline. This was a 9 man league, and I had the fourth selection of the draft. My middle selection was kind of lousy, but I made the most of it. Below, you will see each pick that I made, and a reason why I took that player. For a complete overview of how the draft went...

Sunday Ticket Is The Ticket

This article is for hard core NFL football fans only. If you aren't one then you probably need to stop reading now and spend your time on something else.
