Stride Length or Cadence: Which Makes You Faster?
There are two ways to run faster. You can move your legs at a faster rate, called cadence, or you can take longer steps. A video at the New York City Marathon showed that the top 150 runners had the same cadence, taking 92 to 94 steps a minute. Blisters don't happen without warning; you'll feel pain before they appear. If you feel pain in the skin of your feet while you're exercising, take off your shoes and look for a cause. Usually, your sock will be wrinkled or your shoe will be rubbing because it doesn't fit properly. If it's your socks, straighten the wrinkle. If it's your shoes, take them off.
