Discipline of Prayer: Always Connected
A daily train ride supplies insight into the nature of prayer: the power is always present if we are willing to stay connected. This awareness of God's omnipresence is the grand thing David celebrates. Jesus reminds us of it as His parting gift before ascending to the Father.

Shamanism
Shamans tend to be men {Women have more of these abilities in their natural state and require less altered consciousness.}, though women also can become shamans; some women shamans are extraordinarily powerful. In some cultures, shamans are involuntarily chosen by the spirits; they realize their calling in a transformational experience, often a serious illness that brings them close to death {For example Damion Brinkley of today.} and is self-cured. In other cultures, persons with natural shamanic gifts are selected at a young age, trained and initiated.

The True Self as the Hidden Man of the Heart
You become what you see. Jesus brought to light immortality through the gospel. The outer church sees only mortality. The teaching of Jesus is about God's gift of immortality to every man-the true self made in the likeness of God, immortal.

Chicken Soup with Chopsticks: A Jew's Struggle for Truth in an Interfaith Relationship (excerpts)
Even as I started dating a Chinese girl, I knew I was embarking on a remarkable adventure. I just had no idea where and how far the adventure would take me. The more events unfolded, the more I realized that my view of the world and how I lived in it were being profoundly and permanently altered...
If the problem with marrying a gentile was that my religion prohibited intermarriage, why should that bother me? Perhaps not everything in Judaism made sense, and as an intelligent and thinking individual I could take from my heritage what I felt was meaningful and disregard the rest...

Selling Spiritual Stuff
Why is it that selling drugs, sex, a big screen TVs, or any physical item is easier than selling someone on a new way of thinking? What is it that grounds us in our idealogy even if what we believe in doesn't demonstrate that it works for us? What is so compelling in our thoughts that we won't budge from our political or religions beliefs?

Shallow Victories
Do you ever wonder if a life of faith is worth it? I once read that is a mark that you're living right, and perhaps it is. Still, it's difficult to look around and see people getting away with acting in ways that are clearly in defiance of our faith - and getting away with it! Fortunately, we know that the Lord also sees this, and we are assured that He will deal with it in His way and timing. This story tells how to find humor in such frustrating situations, and how to rest in knowing that in the end, it will all work out for good.

Good News from Mars (Part 2)
Paul is led up a 512 ft. hill, Mars Hill, also known as Areopagus, and there he faces the Epicureans and the Stoics (and others). These intellectual giants represented the philosophical thinking of the day in which Paul lived. And when these PhD’s saw Paul, they sneered and considered him a vain babbler (seed picker).

It's Ok To Be Human
Symbolism has always been important in man's development. All things are symbols. They are roadsigns or landmarks of where you are in your thinking at any particular time in the physical world. It is a simple thing to see how one is thinking just by looking at the things one gathers around oneself. But symbols can separate you from the source of your power. Danger lies in the symbol of Jesus, the cross, the Ferrari or anything that causes you to deny your power.

Echo's Transition
Echo was a flea-bitten gray horse, with brown speckles everywhere, and crystal clear hairs in her mane and tail. We met in October, 1976, when she was a broodmare on an Arabian farm in New York State. A beginner at riding doesn't usually start out with a novice horse, but I fell in love at first sight of her. Somehow, over the years, we learned how to have great times and not get in trouble. We enjoyed trail riding and had fun doing dressage, too. Echo loved to be ridden and to gallop across field. She was always as eager for my companionship as I was for hers.
