What an interesting week this last week has been. All sorts of weird things happening to my Christian sisters it seems. One was very ill (she suffers from a rare disease sort of a like an environmental disease ) another hurt her knee running, another's husband had TWO serious heart attacks on Friday and it was also discovered he has diabetes, and another told me doctors have found maybe breast cancer in both breasts plus her ongoing problem with her stomach. Oh boy, makes Home sound so nice! I wondered though, why so much of this has not only been happening but why the Lord has put them all in my path. I wondered why he has given me such a burden for healing in others and that includes their pets....

Every Christmas the Yuletide card portrays a silver star in a navy blue sky and every year the same heavenly object sparkles from the top of the decorated evergreen. At season's end the three wise men and their fellow shepherds gather at a hastily set up manger for the familiar nativity scene. Though it shimmers on the greeting card and its brilliance lights up the tannebaum, it wasn't a star that erupted into a supernova on that dark Judean night. The star that shone so brightly two thousand years ago was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Failing at something and getting back up is much less painful than to look back and regret not doing something (or doing something) and not being able to go back and change the outcome.

I love recipe books...looking through them, collecting them, and occasionally even using them. I suppose just having them is rather like a safety net. It's always mind assuring to know they are there just in case... But unless they are opened up and used, all the secrets inside will forever remain hidden from view. It will benefit no one. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. --ROMANS 5:8 Expectations create conditional love. “I love you, but I’ll love you more if.” Now I know what you’re thinking. Shouldn’t we expect the best out of one another? Shouldn’t we encourage each other to strive for excellence and never settle for anything else? Absolutely. But it was Christ who taught us how to use expectations. Does He demand a lot? You better believe it. Does He expect much? Only our best. Does He have expectations? Just that we leave everything, deny all, and follow Him. The difference? Jesus’ expectations were accompanied by forgiveness and acceptance.

Our bodies, like the body of Christ (the church) work best when every part is strong and healthy. But when one part develops an illness, our first reaction is to seek a doctor's advice for treatment so that we can ward off any further complications. If we don't take the necessary steps to healing, we become vulnerable for more serious complications to arise. This is also true among the church of believers. As a true Christian we must counterattack a brethren who is falling ill and needs spiritual medicine for healing. How can you recognize a sickness?

Be filled with the Spirit.… always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. -EPHESIANS 5:18, 20 Some years ago, a couple traveled from their home in Chicago to Arrowhead Springs to talk to me about an idea they had. “We heard your lecture on how to be filled with the Holy Spirit. To be effective lighthouses for Jesus Christ, we must be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Without that filling, we will fail miserably in our spiritual lives and accomplish little to reach other people for Christ.
