When Bad Things Happen (Part 1)
Rabbi Kushner could not comprehend how a loving, supposedly merciful and compassionate and just God, could allow such a tragedy to befall him and his loved ones. After all, he considered himself a God-fearing, obedient man who was living a more religiously committed life than most people. So how could a God of justice permit so great an injustice?

When Bad Things Happen to Good People
Why do bad things happen to good people? Surely this is a question all of us ask from time to time. Some of Jesus’ listeners asked Him the same question.

Destroying Strongholds
Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, “Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way.”

Honoring the Sacred in Everyday Life
How many of us rush blindly through our days, fall into bed exhausted, and wake up the next morning to do it all over again? For many of us, our lives are composed of millions of meaningless moments, all strung together -- perhaps with a sprinkling of sacred moments mixed in. Why do we wait for major events to honor these moments? Why can't every day be sacred?

Meditations From a Spiritual Journey
While Mr. Simpson wrote his poems, he struggled with his self—with whether the poems made sense, or how it would end. This struggle demonstrates the reality of the spiritual life as we move between the two poles of doubt and faith, darkness and illumination. This struggle is clearly scene, and enhanced for each of us, in several of his poems.

The Abundant Life!
Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
ROMANS 6:11
My friend Randy had given up trying to live the Christian life. He said, “I have tried, but have failed so many times. Nothing seems to work for me.” After listening to his account of his many failures and defeats, I began to explain the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Randy interrupted: “I know all about the Holy Spirit. I’ve read everything I can find, and nothing works for me.”
My thoughts turned to Romans 6. I asked him, “Randy, are you sure you’re a Christian?”
“Yes,” he answered. “I’m sure.”
“How do you know?”

Where is Your Focus?
You really want to be spiritual, but things keep getting in the way. Distractions, noisy and unsettling, come between you and where you want to focus your attention. True spirituality involves developing the ability, not to get rid of the annoyances, but to look past them, or even to see through them to view what is really significant and permanent.

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
Did you ever see something go wrong around you and suddenly burst out, “How on Earth did I create that?” Really, how can bad things happen, even to the sweetest, kindest, most spiritual people on the planet? Anam Chara - Telling Your Story
Even the dull and ignorant: they too have their story.
We all have our stories.
Even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their stories. Are you, however, prepared to tell our story? Are you prepared to listen deeply to your heart’s story? We human beings are great storytellers. Story is how we first learn. It is how our ancestors first learned.

Actualizing Personal Truth
Self-actualization comes down to three basic premises: this is who I am, this is what I believe and the foundation on which my life is built, and this is the way I manifest that belief system on a daily basis.
If you say that you live by the Golden Rule, but treat other people with a lack of respect, then you are dishonest, and others will perceive you as hypocritical...

The Relief of Centeredness
If ever you find yourself in a confrontation make sure that you separate your true self from any outside influence. For instance if one were to experience a disagreement with a co-worker, start your own healing and ultimately the healing of the relationship by unrelentingly remaining connected with your breath or a mantra; whatever it is it must be powerful and meaningful to you and must shake you to the awareness that you are not your thoughts and you are not the thoughts of the other party. Only from this state of awareness can a sufficient amount of separation occur to allow for a new compassionate viewpoint.
