The Big Choice
The Big Choice
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.”
REVELATION 3:20, NCV
Jesus gives this invitation. To know God is to receive His invitation. Not just to hear it, not just to study it, not just to acknowledge it, but to receive it. It is possible to learn much about God’s invitation and never respond to it personally.
Yet His invitation is clear and nonnegotiable. He gives all and we give Him all. Simple and absolute. He is clear in what He asks and clear in what He offers. The choice is up to us.

Meditations From a Spiritual Journey
While Mr. Simpson wrote his poems, he struggled with his self—with whether the poems made sense, or how it would end. This struggle demonstrates the reality of the spiritual life as we move between the two poles of doubt and faith, darkness and illumination. This struggle is clearly scene, and enhanced for each of us, in several of his poems.

Neither White-washed Nor Unmarked
Like a white-washed tomb, the beautiful externals of a hypocrite's life conceal a horrible inner corruption. But some hypocrites are so good at their art that they are more like unmarked graves--you get defiled being around them, and you don't even realize what's happening. The challenge is to avoid being either kind of grave by working a being transparently honest in all of your relationships.

Snowflakes
The human race had their beginning, and I had mine – in this lifetime, anyway.
Growing up in a cultural melting pot like Chicago set a great foundation for my different drummer to build on. I grew up in a town with six million people; every one of them was different from the next...

Sole Work - Walking the Spiritual Path
For the past several years I have struggled with getting (and staying) fit. Ok I admit it, the struggle has been longer than just a few years. As a kid, instead of playing nicely with the girls, I fought with the neighborhood boys. I attempted to join their fun and received new scars weekly in bloody games of soccer. I was always the last one picked to play on the kickball team and, as the catcher of my 5th grade softball team, I pummeled the pitcher in the head with a fast ball. Uncoordinated in team sports, I succeeded only at baton twirling which was fun but I barely broke a sweat. After failures in group sports I thought I'd try running so, a few years ago I attempted to train for a half marathon. I ended up limping home in tears and thought I’d never exercise again. (I couldn't even MOVE after that, much less exercise!)
